PROGRAM
DAY 1
Arrival at Amman Airport and meeting with the assistant and handling of customs formalities. Transfer to the hotel, dinner and overnight stay.
DAY  2
After a hearty breakfast, we set out to discover the city of Madaba on the ancient biblical site of Medeba, 35 km from Amman. The city of mosaics stands on a road built five thousand years ago. Even today it preserves within its monuments magnificent examples of religious art, mosaics and floors, some of the finest artistic expressions in the world, such as the Church of San Giorgio. Then we continue to the vault of Mount Nebo, the presumed burial place of Moses. On the top of the hill, the Franciscans built a protective structure for the Byzantine church built between the 4th and 6th centuries.
Lunch at a local restaurant before heading back to Shobak Castle. Built on a small knoll in the middle of a plateau, the castle appears particularly suggestive to those who see it in the distance and manages to fascinate even the most skeptical of travelers. In the evening we reach the hotel in the city of Petra, then dinner and overnight on site.
DAY 3
Loaded after breakfast, we leave for a whole day dedicated to visiting the archaeological site of the city of Petra, among the reddish hues of the rocks of the Sharahda mountains. The numerous facades carved into the rock, referable for the most part to tombs, make it a unique monument that has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and declared one of the so-called: seven wonders of the modern world. Walking through the archaeological site you will walk through the Siq, a narrow and windy path between the rocks that leads to the Roman Theater, Qasr Bint Pharaoun, the Temple of the Winged Lion and other monuments.
Lunch in a local restaurant during the excursion, then return to the hotel in the late afternoon, dinner and overnight stay.
DAY4
We start with breakfast at the hotel before visiting the archaeological site of Little Petra, designed to host the caravans from Arabia and the East, which went as far as Syria and Egypt. The excursion continues with a visit to the villages of Beidha and Basta, admiring the ruins of the settlements of the biblical Edomites and exploring the remains of the Roman legionary fortress of Udruh. We arrive in the Wadi Rum desert, a valley carved out over the millennia by the flow of a river in the sandy soil and granite rock. This is also included among the naturalistic assets protected by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. A two-hour jeep tour and lunch at a local restaurant will follow. In the afternoon, aboard a jeep, you will reach a tented camp located inside the Wadi Rum. Dinner and overnight in deluxe tents with private facilities.
DAY 5
After breakfast at the hotel, we depart along the Arab Road 65 towards Bethany, site of the settlement of St. John the Baptist, and of the baptism of Jesus as indicated in the Bible. We continue towards the Dead Sea, in the Jordan Valley, a sunny place all year round at about -400 below the Earth, generated over the millennia by the evaporation of its waters. Lunch and free afternoon during which you cannot give up the unforgettable experience of a bath or mud-based treatments.
Return to the hotel in the evening, dinner and overnight.                                                                               DAY 6
Breakfast and departure for Jeash, one of the best preserved examples of Roman civilization. Jerash was part of the 10 great Roman cities of the East, full of theaters, churches, temples dedicated to Zeus and Artemis, a nymphaeum and colonnaded streets.
After lunch in a local restaurant, continue to Ajloun, a 12th century castle built by Saladin: as an example of Arab-Islamic architecture.
Return to the hotel in Amman, dinner and overnight.
DAY  7
Breakfast at the hotel and tour of the city of Amman, the capital of the current Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The city has undergone numerous occupations and known over the years by many names. The excursion to the Philadelphia archaeological site includes a visit to the following places of interest: the Roman theater, the Citadel and the Museum of folklore and archeology. After a lunch in a local restaurant we set off to discover the “Castles of the Desert”, a network of fortifications built by the Umayyad caliphs of Damascus. Of these you can visit: Amra, characterized by the presence of very rare examples of Muslim painting, Karaneh and Azraq, built between Roman and Byzantine domination. Return to Amman, dinner and overnight.
DAY 8
Breakfast at the hotel and transfer to Amman airport. Assistance for the entire duration of check-in operations, as well as customs clearance and return home.
Flight + 7 nights starting from € 1470 per person in a double room.
The price is subject to confirmation.
